Human Resource Department- Truly Resourceful

After I heard my younger brother ridicule his friend who was opting for MBA in HR I realized that it is not only him who thinks the job of a HR person is not a real “Job”. I felt bad for the poor girl being rebuked, who was all set to join one of the top ranked MBA colleges in Delhi, but I was prompt to correct my brother by saying he obviously didn’t know the benefits of an HR department in an organization.

During my MBA in IILM, I came to know about Human Resource and its advantages in detail. So I know, it is only their ignorance speaking who say the job of HR is a fun job, and that it doesn’t take much to be HR personnel. If you too, belong to the same club, then here’s why you should think twice:

•    The HP department is responsible for conducting extensive salary surveys to maintain compensation costs in sync with the organization’s current financial position and the projected revenue. They are the reason why a company can set up a realistic compensation structure.

•    They are the reason why someone lands up in a job in the first place. Remember the interview call? Well, that’s the HR of the company. They are responsible for recruiting new employees and the departments run to the HR in case they need to hire urgently. They conduct interviews and decide who is fit for the job, and who is not.

•    To a significant extent, the HR has a say in the strategic decisions of the company. They are required to show the projections of the workforce requirement, and hence contribute in helping the management to allocate funds accordingly.

•    Imagine what would you have done in case of a dispute if there was no HR? They ensure that cordial relationship is maintained throughout the company and that, everything is harmonious. HR looks after every single thing in an office which relates to the well-being of the employees.
