Hard Work- Still The Best Way To Success!

Posted on Updated on

My younger sister, as a child had mild dyslexia. This created a lot of problems in her academics and needless to say she was an underperformer for most of her school life. Not that she lacked on intellect or something, she just had some reading and writing abilities. This often made her a topic of rebuke in her school and often laughed upon. This had some lasting impression on her mind and she developed a weird behaviour toward her peers. She stopped indulging in any kind of outdoor activities and meeting new people.

With the situation going out of control, we started to be as supportive as we could. My parents also sent her for counseling sessions which helped her gain her lost confidence. This situation continued till she was about 15 years of age. We all were scared for her board exam results although we tried our best not to intimidate her. With careful coaching and support she managed to bring decent marks in her 10th boards of CBSE. Since then, we saw a drastic change in her. She was suddenly flushed with determination and she started to work hard on her problems and miraculously, within months she showed spectacular improvement! He scored well above 85% in her 12th exams and made all of us proud. She, by then already had her minds set on the top MBA colleges in Delhi!

She started to become more responsive to the world outside her and her efforts to minimize her problems were bearing fruit. No doctor, no counselor could do what she did with her own hard work. Now, after graduating from the Delhi University, she is attending one of the renowned MBA institutes in Delhi, just as she had always thought. Looking back, it seems like my little sister was a different person all together a few years back. I am proud of her, and she once again proved that there is nothing in this world that can beat the power of hard work!

MBA: Tips For Staying More Informed About Current Affairs

Posted on

Coping with the vast study material for MBA entrances requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Whether entrance exams test your level of general awareness or not, you cannot afford to not know about the current affairs. You ask why? That’s because you never know when you might be tested on your knowledge in your subsequent rounds of group discussion and personal interview. Hence being fully prepared is the only option you have. But preparing for general knowledge on top of all other subjects can be an arduous task. However, here are some tips for you to make it easier:

preparing for general knowledge - IILM

1.    Study every single day

General awareness is a subject you can never fully cover, regardless of the number of hours you are putting in. To focus on other subjects and to leave GK for the end is one grave mistake you don’t want to commit. Even if you are appearing for an entrance to get through the top MBA college in Delhi next year, start your preparation today.

2.    Make a notebook

It is implausible to remember everything you read. Hence, maintain a notebook dedicated to current affairs. Keep jotting down things briefly and clearly, and do not forget to revise in the end.

3.    Don’t just focus on facts

A lot of students just learn the basic facts without paying attention to other details. Do not just gather information to just clear the multiple choice questions test. Facts are important, but so are the details. For instance, you may be asked to explain some recent scam and give your opinion in a group discussion or personal interview of one of the top 10 business schools in Delhi.

4.    Move on

Unlike other questions that can befuddle you, it would take you less than a second to decide whether you know the answer to a GK question or not. You can make an informed guess in some questions, but that’s all you can do. If you do not know the answer, do not waste your time and just move on to the next one.

IS SWITCHING INDUSTRY BENEFICIAL?

Posted on

People work, get bored and then after a considerable amount of time, look for something outside of their industry to break the monotony. While the idea of switching the industry could sound like a risky affair, one just cannot overlook the number of opportunities one can come across through this switch plan. The students after graduating from top mba institutes in delhi, are sure to get through the placement process and grab great corporate positions in different companies. These jobs also fetch them handsome salary packages and brand names. But do they really get the type of industry they’re looking for? Do they actually use their distinguishing skills in these industries? And are they contented with the work culture that they come across? Well, answer could be both positive and negative.

IS SWITCHING INDUSTRY BENEFICIAL? - IILM

While some of the students exactly know what they want, right from the moment the management colleges, some only have a rough idea of getting into corporate companies, being not very sure of the specializations. Institutes like IILM provide national as well as international exposures to the students. Some of the students, who have worked already before joining these business schools, plan to further walk on the planned career path and gladly take the job up in the same field. There are others however who plan to take this postgraduate degree first and then indulge in the decision of mapping a suitable industry. One of my good friends, who falls into the latter category, managed to get a highly paying job after MBA but could not cope with the monotonous working culture of a huge corporate giant. Tired with the industry, he planned to build his own start up and his career rocketed from there. Not saying that every start up excels, but unless you face the challenge of switching your job, you won’t even know what all are you capable of!
